John II of Brienne, Count of Eu

John of Brienne († July 11, 1302 at Courtrai ), as was John III. a Count of Eu and Guines ( jure uxoris ) out of the house Brienne. He was a son of John II of Eu and the Beatrix of Châtillon.

Johann was married to Joan of Guines, a granddaughter of Count Arnold III. of Guines. Yet he had before Parliament in Paris litigate their inheritance because of his wife's grandfather was in 1285 forced the county Guines to sell to the French crown. The dispute ended in February 1295 to Johann's favor after King Philip IV the Fair and his wife transferred the county.

Johann then fought for the king in Flanders war and fell there in 1302 at the Battle of the Golden Spurs against the Flemings. He was buried in the Abbey of Foucarmont. His son was Raoul.
