Raoul I of Brienne, Count of Eu

Raoul I de Brienne (* 1302, † January 18, 1344 in Paris) was the son of John III, Count of Eu and Johanna, Countess of Guines. . He succeeded his father, who fell in the Battle of the Spurs, already in the year of his birth as Count of Eu.

In 1327 he was representative of the king in Saintonge, 1329 Constable of France. Later he was again representative of the king, first in Hainault, later (1331 ) in the Languedoc. He accompanied John of Bohemia, King of Bohemia, to Italy. In 1332 he gave the peace treaty between France and Castile.

Raoul I de Brienne died 41 years old in a tournament. He was buried in Foucarmont.

In 1315 he married Jeanne de Mello († 1351 ), mistress of Lormes and Château-Chinon, daughter of Dreux de Mello Mello out of the house, Lord of Château- Chinon, Jarnac, Sainte -Hermine, etc., and Jeanne de Toucy. The couple had three children:
