Jarnac
Jarnac is a municipality in the Charente region of France and has 4427 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) on an area of 1199 hectares. Jarnac lies on the banks of the Charente River, which is used in this area for the water tourism through sports and houseboats. Here is a charter basis for houseboats. The city also lies right in the center of production for cognac. Jarnac is home to several large Cognac distilleries such as Courvoisier, Hine and Bisquit.
Today, there is in honor of the most famous son of the city, François Mitterrand, a cultural center; the birthplace can be visited.
