John II, Lord of Mecklenburg

John II of Mecklenburg, (* 1250, † October 12, 1299 ) was from 1264 to 1299 Mr. Mecklenburg.

He was the youngest son of John I and Luitgard of Henneberg (1210-1267), daughter of the Count Poppo VII of Henneberg. After his brother Henry I fell at his pilgrimage in captivity, he took over in 1275 along with his brother Nicholas III. the regency for Henry's sons. In 1283 he was mentioned as the Lord said to Gadebusch. He probably got as appanage the rule. He died on October 12, 1299 and was buried in the Doberan Minster.

There were mentions of him in records three children: Lütgard, † after August 2, 1353, John, † died young, and Elizabeth, who was still alive in 1352 as abbess of Rehna.
