John Kongos

John Kongos ( born August 6, 1945 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a singer and songwriter.

Life

After John Congo with his band " Johnny and the G-Men " as well as a solo artist in his native South Africa has seen some record successes in the early 1960s, he went to Britain in 1966 to advance his career. In April 1967 he founded the band " Floribunda Rose" to the Pete Clifford (guitar), Jack Russell (bass, vocals ), Nick Doktor ( drums) and Chris Demetriou (keyboard) included. After a single release (Linda Loves Linda ) Clifford and Doctor left the band, and drummer Henry Spinetti took the remaining musicians as psychedelic rock band " Scruggs " three more unsuccessful singles.

Published in 1969 by Gus Dudgeon Congo be produced first solo album on Dawn / Pye entitled Confusions About a Goldfish, however, this was not very successful. Thereafter, he concentrated on songwriting. Two of his songs, Will not You Join Me and Will You Follow Me in 1970 and 1971 in large German vocal versions of Daliah Lavi hits in Germany ( Oh, when you come and you go with me geh'n ).

His commercial breakthrough as a singer he had with the published mid-1971 on Fly Records Single He's Gonna Step on You Again, which was an international hit parade success. In the UK, the follow-up single Tokoloshe Man was able to place in the top ten and be published in late 1971 album Congo reached there, the top 30 on the LP charts. Further success came from, however.

John is married to jewelery designer Shelley and has four sons: John, Joseph, Jesse, Dylan and Daniel Lee. They work together as a rock band called Congo. John currently lives with his family in Phoenix (Arizona ) in the USA.
