John Mackey (businessman)

John Mackey ( born August 15, 1953) is an American businessman and co-founder of Whole Foods Market.

Career

John Mackey studied several semesters of philosophy and religion, and worked part-time in a vegetarian consumer co-operative. In 1978 he founded together with his then partner, a vegetarian supermarket, SaferWay, arose from two years later through a merger Whole Foods Market.
