John Mark Ainsley

John Mark Ainsley (* July 9, 1963 in Crewe, Cheshire, England ) is an English tenor.

John Mark Ainsley began his musical studies at Oxford. He was then trained by Diane Forlano on. In 1990, he had his American debut with concerts in New York and Boston and 1992 in Germany with the Berlin Philharmonic. Making his first appearance in Austria he had in 1993 at the Vienna Musikverein with the St. Matthew Passion and St. John Passion under the baton of Peter Schreier. The role of the Evangelist in Bach's Passions became an important part in his repertoire. Also known Ainsley is as an interpreter of German Lieder.

In the course of his career, followed by roles at the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, the London Symphony and the New York Philharmonic under Kurt Masur, to name just a few important stations. His discography includes far more than 100 recordings.
