John Martin Mack

Johann Martin Mack ( born April 19, 1715 in Laichingen, † June 9, 1784 at Friedenthal, Saint Croix ) was a Protestant missionary and bishop of the Moravian Church.

Mack joined as a 19 -year-old of the Moravian Church. A year later sent him the founder and spiritual leader of the community, Nikolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf, for missionary work to North America. After a first attempt to settle with the community in Georgia, had failed, he helped in the colony of Pennsylvania in the construction of the first Moravian community in Bethlehem. In 1762 he was sent to the Virgin Islands, where he remained until his death. In 1770 he was appointed bishop of the Moravian Church.
