John Mitchell Nuttall
John Mitchell Nuttall ( born July 21, 1890 in Todmorden, † 28 January 1958) was an English physicist. It is mainly characterized announced that he has established with Hans Geiger together the Geiger- Nuttall rule for radioactive decay.
Nuttall made a 1911 graduate of the University of Manchester and became an Assistant Lecturer in Physics at the University of Leeds. During World War II he served as a Captain in the Royal Engineers. In 1921, he became Deputy Director ( Assistant Director ) of the physical laboratories of the University of Manchester. The position he held until 1955.
Geiger and Nuttall also made physical experiments that led to his Ernest Rutherford 's atomic model.
