John Morrow (peace activist)

John Morrow (* June 28, 1931 near Belfast, † 1 January 2009, Belfast) was an Irish minister of the Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland. He was one of the founders of the Corrymeela Community.

Life

Growing up on a farm near Belfast, Morrow studied agricultural science at Queen's University of Belfast. Later he took up the study of theology in Belfast and Edinburgh. During his time in Scotland, he became in 1958 a member of the Iona Community, which he remained until 1971. He was a founding member in 1965 of the Corrymeela Community from its membership of the Iona Community out and was its director from 1979 to 1993.

Morrow was a pastor in various communities in Northern Ireland and Edinburgh, as well as University Chaplain ( priest at the University ) in Glasgow, Dublin and Belfast.

From 1993 to 2002 Morrow taught at the Irish School of Ecumenics ( Irish School of ecumenism ).
