John Osteen

John Hillery Osteen ( born August 21, 1921 in Paris (Texas ), † 23 January 1999, Houston ) was an American priest and founder of Lakewood Church.

Osteen was pastor of the Southern Baptist Convention, from which it separated in 1958 and turned to the Pentecostal movement. In 1959 he founded the Lakewood Church. He authored several books on religion and self-help. He is best known as a television preacher.

His son Joel Osteen continued the work of the Father.
