John Palsgrave

John Palsgrave (* 1480 in London, † 1554 in Northamptonshire ) was an English scholar.

Life

Palsgrave studied at Cambridge and Paris, where he acquired a thorough knowledge of French. He was the tutor of Princess Mary Tudor, sister of King Henry VIII, whom he accompanied to France in 1514. Later, he was a teacher of the Duke of Richmond, the illegitimate son of the king, and was founded in 1533 head of the London School of St. Dunstan - in-the- East. 1545 he was appointed rector of Wadenhoe in Northamptonshire, where he later died.
