John Pearse

John Pearse ( born September 12, 1939 in Hook, Hampshire, † 31 October, 2008 Bietigheim- Bissingen ) was a British guitarist who gave the first televised guitar lessons in the 1960s.

Life

Pearse played in his youth banjo and guitar in a jazz band. From the mid- 1950s, he lived in London, where he gave guitar lessons and evening occurred in clubs. During this time, John Bailey built from an English cittern a precursor of the Irish Bouzouki for Pearse, which was later made ​​famous by Johnny Moynihan.

A producer of the BBC discovered Pearse in London, and from 1965 he starred in the television series broadcast in black and white hold down a chord. The success of the series was so great that the format was also sold in other countries. In Germany the series was ( called " chord and rhythm " ) aired in the 1970s in the Third Program; Pearse hosted the show by himself German. He also worked as a music producer for Capitol Records and Warner Brothers. In 1978 he moved to the USA where he, Inc. worked for the guitar manufacturer CF Martin & Co.. He later founded his own company for guitar strings. The early 1980s was followed by a renewal of the series for PBS.

Over the years, John Pearse published a series of records, educational booklets and instructional videos in multiple languages.

1983 Pearse suffered an accident as a result he was paralyzed temporarily, from which he could but recover after one year. Most recently, he lived in Besigheim, where he was buried on 5 November 2008.
