John Roger Kirkpatrick Scott

John Roger Kirkpatrick Scott ( born July 6, 1873 in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania, † December 9, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1915 and 1919 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Scott attended the public schools in Wilkes -Barre and Philadelphia, where he had moved with his parents. In 1893 he graduated from the Central High School of Philadelphia. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Pennsylvania and his 1895 was admitted as a lawyer, he started working in Philadelphia in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. In the years 1899, 1909, 1911 and 1913 he was a deputy in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.

In the congressional elections of 1914 Scott was in the 33 state-wide electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Fred Ewing Lewis on March 4, 1915. After a re-election, he could remain until his resignation on January 5, 1919 at the Congress. In this time of the First World War fell. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives John Scott practiced as a lawyer again. He died on December 9, 1945 in Philadelphia. His son Hardie (1907-1999) was also a congressman.
