John Tong Hon
John Tong Hon Cardinal (Chinese汤 汉; born July 31, 1939 in Hong Kong) is a Roman Catholic bishop of Hong Kong.
Life
John Tong Hon graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong a master's degree in philosophy. He then studied Catholic theology at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. Tong Hon received on 6 January 1966 in Rome by Pope Paul VI. the sacrament of Holy Orders. He then returned to Hong Kong and was at Holy Spirit Seminary College operates in Hong Kong.
On 13 September 1996, Pope John Paul II appointed Titular Bishop of Bossa and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of Hong Kong. He received his episcopal consecration on 9 December 1996 John Baptist Cardinal Wu Cheng -chung; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Tokyo, Peter Seiichi Cardinal Shirayanagi, and the secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Archbishop Charles Asa Schleck, CSC Curia. On 30 January 2008 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. the Coadjutor Bishop of Hong Kong. In solemn consistory of February 18, 2012 it took Benedict XVI. as cardinal priest with the titular church of Regina Apostolorum in the College of Cardinals. On 22 April 2012, taking possession of his titular church in Rome was.
June 30, 2012 he was appointed Benedict XVI. together with the Archbishop of Guadalajara, Cardinal Robles Ortega Francisco, and the Archbishop of Kinshasa, Cardinal Laurent Monsengwo Pasinya, delegated to the President of the XIII. General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops ( October 7 to 28, 2012).
