John White (squash player)

John White ( born June 15, 1973 in Mount Isa ) is a former Australian- Scottish squash players.

Achievements

John White was born in Queensland, Australia, where his parents ran a squash plant. In the late 1990s he moved to Belgium, before he moved to Nottingham in 2000. In 1998 joined White, whose father was born in Edinburgh, Scotland for the Australian Association.

John White won 13 PSA tournaments, with his greatest success was a second place at the World Championship and the British Open in 2002, respectively. The final of the world championship he lost despite a match ball against David Palmer with 2:3 ( 15:13, 15:12, 6:15, 14:15, 11:15 ). 2003 White won the PSA Masters with a 3-0 victory over Thierry Lincou. In 2004, White was two months world ranking first, before he had to give up his place to Peter Nicol. John White was from 1993 to 2008 on the professional tour active. With the Scottish national team, he took in 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005 World Cups. After retiring in the second round of the 2008 World Championship in Manchester White announced his resignation.

John White is married and has four children. He lives in Philadelphia, where he has served as head coach of Drexel University.

World Record

White long held the world record of the largest acceleration of a squash ball: In the PSA tournament Canary Wharf Squash Classic in 2004, he brought the ball with a forehand stroke to a speed of just over 273.5 km / h In October 2011, this record was equaled by his compatriot Cameron Pilley: As part of the U.S. Open he accelerated the ball to 281.6 km / h
