John Williams (guitarist)

John Christopher Williams ( born April 24, 1941 in Melbourne, Australia) is an Australian guitarist.

John Williams learned to play guitar from his father Len. 1952 the family moved to London. There he met the guitarist Andrés Segovia know. This took Williams to the student and sent him five years to the Academia Musicale di Siena. Later, Williams studied at the Royal College of Music in piano and music theory.

In 1958 he made ​​his debut at London's Wigmore Hall.

John Williams plays a very broad spectrum of music of all possible styles of classical guitar, jazz and rock. He very often occurred together with Julian Bream. Between 1978 and 1984 he also played in the band Sky, adapted the title of classical music in rock music.

So far, Williams used in his concerts and recordings Guitar by Paulino Bernabe ( son ), Greg Smallman and Ignacio Fleta.

The jazz pianist Kate Williams is his daughter.
