John Wong Soo Kau

John Wong Soo Kau ( born June 6, 1968 in Sandakan ) is Archbishop of Kota Kinabalu.

Life

John Wong Soo Kau was born on June 6, 1968 as the seventh of eleven children. He started his education first at the Chen Ming Chinese School in Sandakan and then moved on to Middle School Saint Mary.

John Wong Soo Kau received on 21 January 1999, the ordination and initially served as a priest in the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Kota Kinabalu. He was sent to a two-year training to Rome in 2002. After his return, he worked in the Catholic Diocesan Centre in consulting and training of priesthood candidates. He was incardinated on 16 July 2007 in the Clergy of the Diocese of Sandakan.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 21 June 2010 Koadjutorerzbischof of Kota Kinabalu. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Kota Kinabalu, John Lee Hiong Fun- Yit Yaw, on 1 October of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Piong Cornelius, Bishop of Keningau, and Julius Dusin Gitom, Bishop of Sandakan.

After the retirement John Lee Hiong Fun- Yit Yaw he followed this up on 1 December 2012 by the Office of the Archbishop of Kota Kinabalu.
