Jolán Kleiber-Kontsek

Jolán Nuthatch Kontsek, born Kontsek ( born August 29, 1939 in Budapest ) is a retired Hungarian athlete who was especially successful as a discus thrower. In addition, she appeared also in the shot put.

Career

Nuthatch Kontsek was 1960-1972 a total of eleven times Hungarian champion in discus throw. During this period, the title only in 1963 and 1969 went to another athlete, Judit Stugner. They also won at the Hungarian Championship in 1960 and 1961 in the shot put.

In the Universiade 1961 in Sofia Nuthatch Kontsek won the bronze medal with the discus. The same placement she reached at the European Athletics Championships 1962 in Belgrade behind Tamara Press from the Soviet Union and the German Doris Müller. In the Universiade 1963 in Porto Alegre, she won silver in the discus throw and bronze with the ball.

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 Nuthatch Kontsek finished sixth in the discus. In the shot put, however, they missed the final. In 1965 she won at the Universiade in her hometown of Budapest the title in the discus before their national rival Judit Stugner and surprisingly also the Olympic champion and reigning European champion Tamara Press. This success secured her a choice of one of Hungary's Sportswoman of the Year. Also in Budapest, she finished fourth at European Athletics Championships 1966.

Your last major international success came Nuthatch Kontsek at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City. There she won behind the Romanian Lia Manoliu and Deutsche Liesel Westermann the bronze medal in the discus throw.

Nuthatch Kontsek is 1,78 m tall and weighed 84 kg to their active time. She started for the Újpesti Torna Egylet from Budapest.
