Jon McClure

Jon McClure (* 1981 in Grenoside, Sheffield ), also known as the Reverend, is a singer and frontman of the British band Reverend and the Makers and ex- vocalist of 1984 and Yudan Suki. He says, " Reverend " became his nickname because he was a " big mouth " and constantly bedränge people.

Life

Jon McClure was born in Sheffield Grenoside suburb where he grew up with his parents and his brother Chris. At the University of Sheffield, he studied history and politics. There he met musician friends and colleagues know where he knew Ed Cosens since his childhood. Then he devoted himself to poetry, and started an Internet blog. A close friendship he developed to Alex Turner, the lead singer of the Arctic Monkeys, the McClure met on the bus and asked if he wanted to join his band Yudan Suki. Together they have composed some songs, including He Said He Loved Me, The Machine (both on the album The State of Things ( 2007) ) and Old Yellow Bricks ( on the album Favourite Worst Nightmare ). As his main inspirers called McClure Bob Marley, the band Oasis and John Cooper Clarke.

McClure was part of a group that founded Instigate Debate in August 2008. In the same year Mongrel originated with members of Arctic Monkeys and Babyshambles, who presented the album Better Than Heavy.

In August 2009, McClure married Laura Manuel, band member of Reverend and the Makers.
