Reverend and the Makers

Reverend and the Makers are an indie rock band, founded in Sheffield, England in 2005. The singer Jon McClure is also known by the nickname "The Reverend ".

Band History

Even before setting up his band Reverend and the Makers vocalist Jon McClure had made through his work in two other bands, which also later Makers members and Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys played, a name in the Sheffield music scene. In the late course of 2005, he hired musicians for his current project. The cast changed since the passage of time. In early 2006, the band released their first demo ( Ten Songs) with ten pieces of the internet for free. By the summer of 2006 followed on the first tour of the UK. As a support band they played during the band's history among other things, Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Verve.

When there was the big hype about the Arctic Monkeys in early 2006, it was due to the connection to McClure Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner in Sheffield earlier bands to rumors that McClure would ghostwriter for this particular band. However, this was denied by both sides. First, as a band without a record deal signed Reverend and the Makers at a smaller indie label, although larger major labels made ​​a number of lucrative offers. Their debut single Heavyweight Champion of the World in 2007 rose in the UK charts at # 8, her debut album, The State of Things even 5th place

Early 2012 were presented as new band members Joe Carnall and Ryan Jenkinson. In June 2012, published Reverend and the Makers released their third album @ Reverend Makers. The album was produced by Jason Cox and James Dring and Youth.
