Jon the Postman

John the Postman, frequently and Jon the Postman, bourgeois John Ormerod is a legendary figure of early British punk scene. He was especially notorious for jumping at a punk gig on stage to rip the microphone to himself and Louie Louie singing. John stormed at the very first punk gigs in Manchester the stage where there was the center of early British punks to London. Although he omnipresent visited every venue in Manchester, he was known and feared especially in the punk club Electric Circus.

He later published his own plates, which were sold in the late 1970s in the first edition of 17,000 copies and re-released until the beginning of the 21st century. He has appeared in the Electric Circus and played among other things, along with the other well-known punk acts of the city such as The Fall, the Buzzcocks or Joy Division at large concerts such as against the forced closure of the Electric Circus or the equivalent concert against the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II

At Johns professing fans include John Peel, Julian Cope and Mark E. Smith. The Postman began his somewhat varied career in the music business in the shadow of Mark E. Smith and The Fall. John worked as a postman, from which his nickname was born. He was immortalized on film in the film 24 Hour Party People, which handles the music scene of Manchester and in particular the emergence of Factory Records. Connected to Germany he is, as he travels to Berlin each year and in the former pub scene Leydicke celebrating his birthday.
