Jonathan Marks, Baron Marks of Henley-on-Thames

Jonathan Clive Marks, Baron Marks of Henley-on -Thames, QC (* October 19, 1952 ) is a British lawyer and Liberal Democrat life peer in the House of Lords.

Marks was in 1975 appointed by the Honorable Society of the Inner Temple as a lawyer, and led this office in the Western Circuit. During the 1980s and early 1990s, he was a lecturer in law at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, the University of Mauritius and the Sri Lanka Law College. He was 1995 's Counsel (QC ). Since 1975 he is honorary citizen of the City of London and of the Worshipful Company of Makers stalemate.

Marks is a member of the Social Democratic Party since its founding in 1981. He stood as a candidate in Weston -super- Mare at the British general election, 1983, in Falmouth and Camborne in the British general election, 1987, and in Cornwall and Plymouth in the European Parliament election in 1984.

After the founding of the Liberal Democrats Marks 1988-89 served as a member of the Party of the Committee for England. He was from 2004 to 2010 a member of the Federal Policy Committee and from 2001 to 2007 Chairman of the Liberal Democrat Lawyers Association.

On 19 November 2010, it was announced that Marks will appointed a life peer. He is since January 13, 2011 Baron Marks of Henley-on -Thames, Henley-on -Thames in Oxfordshire.
