Joni Huntley

Joni Huntley (actually: . Johanna Luann Huntley, married Rueter; * August 4, 1956 in McMinnville, Oregon ) is a retired American high jumper.

From 1974 to 1977 Huntley was four times in a row U.S. champion in the high jump. They also won 1974-1981 additional four national titles in the hall. Her first big international hit was her victory at the Pan American Games in 1975 in Mexico City.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal she won with a skipped height of 1.89 m the fifth. The following Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 she missed because of the boycott of the U.S. team. In 1983, she was at the Pan American Games 1983 in Caracas third parties.

The highlight of her career experienced Huntley at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In the final, she set a personal best of 1.97 m skipped, with them behind the German Ulrike Meyfarth (2.02 m) and the Italian Sara Simeoni (2.00m ) won the bronze medal.

Joni Huntley is 1,73 m tall and had a competition weight of 61 kg. She attended Oregon State University and the California State University at Long Beach. After the end of her active career, she worked as a primary school teacher in Portland.
