Jordanhill railway station

Jordan Hill is a station on the Argyle Line and North Clyde Line in Jordan Hill neighborhood in Glasgow ( Scotland). He is one of the few stations By connecting to both parallel located, lines, which has direct connections to two main railway stations in Glasgow, Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street.

The station was opened on 1 August 1887 as the starting point of the railroad in the Glasgow, Yoker and Clydebank Railway. The station is located near the Jordanhill Campus of the University of Strathclyde, not far from the banks of the Clyde.

As part of the Argyle Line the station is especially used by commuters who drive to and from the center of Glasgow (Glasgow Central). Previous Station on line is Hyndland, the nearest railway station is Scotstounhill. The stop is part of the railway company First ScotRail.

On April 28, 1980, at the station, a serious accident occurred. A train with 80 passengers on the way from Dalmuir after Motherwell derailed at a railway junction shortly after leaving the station. Here, the first of three cars jumped out of the track and 15 people were injured.
