Jörg Ahmann

Jörg Ahmann ( born February 12, 1966 in Grevenbroich ) is a former German volleyball and beach volleyball player and current coach. With his partner Axel Hager He is a pioneer of professional German beach volleyball in Germany. As the first German beach volleyball player ever to win a medal at the Olympic Games ( bronze in Sydney in 2000 ). In their honor, received the beach volleyball stadium in Timmendorfer beach, annually held in the German Championships, the name Ahmann -Hager arena.

The 1.90 m wide Ahmann actively playing indoor volleyball since 1980. During his studies at RWTH Aachen he played from 1987 to 1990 in the student team and the then second division Düren TV before it for several years for the volleyball department of the Hamburg SV (or 1. VC Hamburg) moved to the Bundesliga. Further stations were again the Duerener TV, from 2000 Eimsbütteler TV and finally the SV Fellbach; his first Beach tournament he played in 1990. According to his last German Championships 2004, he had briefly retired from the professional beach volleyball sport. Since 1 July 2005, he is U23 national coach of the German beach volleyball national team, as well as Team Manager and Base Manager South Beach. Since 2011 Ahmann plays for TSV Schmiden again Indoor Volleyball, both in the big leagues Württemberg as well as in the elderly, with whom he became German champion several times.

Jörg Ahmann is married to the beach volleyball player Andrea Ahmann.

Achievements

1993 and from 1995 to 1998 he was German champion.

In 1996 he won at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in ninth place

In 2000 he won the Olympic bronze medal in Sydney

In 2008 he won with Lutz Mühlisch in Timmdorf in the age group UE36
