2004 European Beach Volleyball Championships

The Beach Volleyball European Championship 2004 was held from June 10 to 13 in Timmendorfer beach ( Germany). The competitions for men and women were held in parallel. For women, the Swiss Simone Kuhn and Nicole Schnyder- Benoit were able to prevail in the final against the Norwegian duo Susanne Glesnes and Kathrine Maaseide. After gold and silver in the two previous tournaments, the German Markus Dieckmann and Jonas Reckermann the final against the Swiss duo Markus Egger and Sascha Heyer, while their compatriots Patrick Heuscher and Stefan Kobel won this time defeated in the match for bronze David Klemperer and Niklas Rademacher.

Mode

For women and men, respectively 24 teams competed. In six preliminary round groups of four teams played FFA for a place in the knockout stage. For a victory, there were two points for a defeat one point. The top two teams from each group and the four best third- through to the next round. From there on it was in the simple knockout system on to the finals. The victorious duo each received 17,000 euros in prize money and 200 points for the world rankings.
