2006 Nestea European Championship Final

The Beach Volleyball European Championship took place in 2006 to 27th August in The Hague on 24. The competitions for men and women were held in parallel. For men, the Germans Julius Brink and Christoph Dieckmann won the final against the Dutch de Gruijter / Ronnes. The Swiss Patrick Heuscher and Stefan Kobel reached the third place with a victory against the Austrians Nik Berger and Peter Mayer Gart. For women, the Germans Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig missed by a defeat against the Norwegian duo Hakedal / Tørlen a medal. The title won by the Russians Schirjajewa and Natalia Urjadowa in the final against the Dutch duo Kadijk / bogs.

Organization and media

Organizer of the tournament, which was held by the Dutch Volleyball Association, was the European Association CEV. The games were held on the beach of Scheveningen. A total of 200,000 euros in prize money was awarded to the participants, one half each for men and women. The new European champions were given them each 20,000 euros. In addition, the title was rewarded with 800 points for the European rankings.

Mode

For women and men, respectively 24 teams competed. Three wildcards were awarded per gender.

The competition was held in the double - knockout system. Given the number of participants had eight teams in the first round byes. In a defeat in the main round ( winner's bracket ), the duo came into the losers bracket. The two winners of the main round met in the semifinals of the winner of the losers bracket. The winners of the semi-finals determined the new European Champion in the final.
