Marrit Leenstra ( born October 18, 1973 in Emmen ) is a former Dutch volleyball and beach volleyball player. In both disciplines, she participated in Olympic tournaments.

Career

Leenstra began her volleyball career in 1983 in the hall at OSV Pegasus Ter Apel. Then she played in Ommen and Martinus Amstelveen, before moving to Monte Schiavo Jesi Italy. Further stages of her club career were S.Donà, Florence and Ravenna. After four years in the youth team she was first appointed to the senior team in 1992, by which it reached the sixth place in Barcelona in 1992. In 1995, the Netherlands became European champion on home soil with Leenstra. In the Olympic tournament in Atlanta in 1996, the team finished fifth. Two years later Leenstra resigned from the national team.

In 2001 she moved finally to beach volleyball. With her ​​partner Rebecca Kadijk they came at the World Championships in Klagenfurt on the 17th rank. A year later she was in Basel after a final defeat against the Italians Gattelli / Perrotta Vice - European Champion.
