Efthalia Koutroumanidou
Efthalia " Thaleia " Koutroumanidou (Greek Ευθαλεία " Θάλεια " Κουτρουμανίδου, born October 7, 1982 in Volos ) is a former Greek beach volleyball player.
Career
Koutroumanidou reached at the European Championships in 1999 Slavroula Theodorou 17th place a year later, the duo finished at the European Championships in Getxo 13th place. In 2001 and 2002 she played with Aikaterini Nikolaidou numerous open tournaments and two grand slams in Marseille and Klagenfurt. At the European Championships in 2002 Koutroumanidou / Nikolaidou subject to the Italians Gattelli / Perrotta and the Hungarians Nagy / Schlegl. In the next two years Koutroumanidou approached with Vasiliki Arvaniti who had previously been her partner already in two World Junior Championships. While the two Greek women were eliminated at the 2003 European Championships in Alanya without a win in the first round, they had to in the first round of the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro later winners Kerri Walsh and Misty May- Treanor defeated in the USA. In the losers bracket, the Greek women dropped out against the Cuban semi-finalists Fernández / Larrea and were ninth. In the same year the two Russian teams Bratkowa / Yudina and Schirjajewa / Urjadowa defeated at the European Championships in Moscow Koutroumanidou / Tsiartsiani.
After the ninth place at the 2006 European Championships, the Greeks failed in the first round of the 2007 World Cup back to Larissa / Juliana. The next year they were back in ninth at the European Championships in Hamburg. Then they lost the Olympic knockout round in three sets against the Australians Barnett / Cook. Shortly afterwards went their separate ways. Koutroumanidou stepped up to the next World Championships in Stavanger with Eydoxia Argiropoulou and retired without winning any set out in the first round.
