Maria Tsiartsiani

Maria Tsiartsiani (Greek Μαρία Τσιαρτσίανη; born October 21, 1980 in Thessaloniki ) is a Greek beach volleyball player.

Career

Tsiartsiani collected in 2000 and 2001 first international experience at Challenger tournaments in Xylokastro before she contested in 2002 three open tournaments with Polyxeni Kitsou. In the following two years she played with Aikaterini Nikolaidou and managed a fifth place in Osaka. After participating in the 2003 World Cup, the duo reached the ninth position in the European Championship 2004.

From 2005 played Tsiartsiani with Efthalia Koutroumanidou. After another fifth place in Osaka, they came with the new partner equal in the Top Ten of the World Championships in Berlin and won medals at the Open tournaments in Espinho and Bali. Two years later it reached the World Cup tournament in Gstaad only for 17th place, but at the European Championships 2008, the Greeks went back into the top ten. They then took part in the Olympic Games in Athens and were on home soil ninth. A short time later separated the duo.

With her ​​current partner Vasiliki Arvaniti Tsiartsiani once again took ninth place at the 2009 World Championships and the 2010 European Championships. 2011 ended the World Cup in Rome for the Greek duo after the group victory in the first knockout round.
