Julius Brink

Julius Brink ( born July 6, 1982 in Münster ) is a German beach volleyball player. He is also the first European to have won three World Cup medals. With three European Championships (2006, 2011 and 2012 ), eight tournament wins on the FIVB World Tour and five German titles (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011 ), he is one of the most successful German Beach volleyball players. His greatest achievements were winning the 2009 World Championships and a gold medal at the Olympic Games in London in 2012 with his partner Jonas Recker man.

Career

Brink began in 1988 as indoor volleyball players at Bayer Leverkusen. In 1999 he moved to beach volleyball. The following year he was together with Niklas Rademacher third at the U19 European Championship and played a tournament with Markus Dieckmann. After four operations with Rüdiger Strosik he formed a duo from 2002 with Kjell Schneider, the German vice-champion in 2004. 2005 won Brink / Schneider the World Tour tournament in Espinho and finished third at the World Championships in Berlin. Then Brink came together with Christoph Dieckmann. The duo, which was coached by Bernd Schlesinger, Künkler Andreas and Markus Dieckmann, won in the first year together, the German championship, was in The Hague European champion and won at the World Tour in Espinho and Vitória. 2007 defended Brink / Dieckmann their national title. They were ninth at the European Championships in Valencia and occupied the 17th place at the World Championships in Gstaad. She also won two CEV tournaments. At the World Tour 2008 they were successful in Barcelona twice and occupied the second rank. As best German team they qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing and eliminated in the first round of. 2010

2011

2012

Brink / Recker man could successfully defend their title at the Beach Volleyball European Championships in Scheveningen (Netherlands). In addition, Brink won with Recker man at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, the gold medal. He and Jonas Recker man are the first Europeans who won a gold medal in beach volleyball at the Olympics.

2013

2013 played Brink along with Sebastian Fuchs, because Recker man ended his career due to health reasons. Due to a hamstring injury but Brink had from early June to cancel all tournaments, including the 2013 World Championships in Stare Jabłonki.

Private

The nurse Ruth and the chemist Klaus Brink are the parents of Julius. He grew up with his two brothers Benjamin and Florian. Julius Brink was a staff sergeant in the sports promotion group of the Bundeswehr in Cologne. Since 2010, he completed the distance learning program " Sports Management" by the IST study institution. Since April 2013 he is enrolled in the IST College of Management for the bachelor's degree sports business management.
