Emanuel Rego

Emanuel Rego Fernando Scheffer ( born April 15, 1973 in Curitiba, Brazil) is a Brazilian beach volleyball player, Olympic gold medalist and three -time world champion.

Career

As Hall volleyball Emanuel Rego started his career. In 1991 he moved to beach volleyball, 1994, he started for the first time at the FIVB Tour. With his partner Zé Marco Emanuel in 1996 for the first time FIVB Tour Champion. In 1997 the two were able to repeat this success. In 1998, José Loiola new partner of Emanuel Rego, who was elected in the same year at the AVP Tour Rookie of the Year. 2003 began the most successful period of Emanuel Rego, from now on the team with Ricardo Santos. The two won from 2003 to 2007 each time the FIVB tour and were from 2005 to 2007 FIVB Team of the Year. In 2004 they won the Brazilians the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Athens, a year earlier they had become beach volleyball world champion in her native country in Rio de Janeiro. 2010

The first FIVB tournament of the year in their home country, the two new partner Emanuel Rego and Alison Beach Cerutti reached after victories over their compatriots Ricardo / Cunha and Pedro / Thiago the finals, but lost to Rogers / Dalhausser and took second place. In the Shanghai Open, the Brazilians were able to return the favor, but only in the match for third place in the semi-finals they were at the German World Champions Brink / Recker man failed. 2011

After a second place in Brasilia and a ninth place in Shanghai Emanuel / Alison won in Prague their first joint gold medal at the World Tour. At the World Cup Emanuel Rego and Alison Cerutti his partner in the finals were able to prevail against the also Brazilian Marcio Araujo team / Ricardo. They solved the German team Brink / Recker man from a world champion. After a fifth place in Stavanger Rego and Cerutti won the following two tournaments in Gstaad and Moscow. 2012

Emanuel and Alison started the season with a seventh place at the opening event, improved their ranking on the following tournaments continuously over a fifth place in Shanghai, ranked third in the Chinese capital, in the finals in Prague through to victory in Moscow. At the events in Rome, Gstaad and Berlin reached the two Brazilians the final, which they could make successful in the German capital. At the Olympic Games in London, the South African duo received after a 1-2 defeat in the final against Brink / Recker man the silver medal. At the last Grand Slam of the year in Poland Cerutti and Rego occupied the fifth place. Following Emanuel was named sports person as well as Most Inspirational in 2012.

2013

At the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki Alison / Emanuel came after six consecutive wins semi-finals, where they were beaten by their countrymen Ricardo / Filho. The match for third place lost Alison / Emanuel against the Germans Erdmann / Matysik. At the end of the season, Alison and Emanuel parted.

Private

Mary and Manoel Rego are the parents of Emanuel. His one year older, sister is called Aniele. Emanuel Rego has a son from his first marriage Mateus. Since November 2008, he is married to the Brazilian beach volleyball player Leila Barros, whose common son Luke is called.
