Swatch FIVB World Tour 2011
The FIVB World Tour 2011, the men consisted of 14 tournaments, of which six and seven were discharged as a Grand Slam as open. Added to this was the most important event this year, the Beach Volleyball World Championships in Rome from 13 to 19 June.
Tournaments
The series began on 19 April in Brasilia. More Open took place in Shanghai, Prague, Québec, Aland, The Hague and Agadir. Beijing, Stavanger, Gstaad, Moscow, Stare Jabłonki Klagenfurt and directed the Grand Slams out. Originally a tournament in Kristiansand take place and the series in the Netherlands was to end on August 28. The Open in Norway were canceled. Instead, there was an additional men's event in Morocco from 4 to 9 October.
Brasilia Open ( 19 to 24 April )
Also in this year launched the tour in the capital of Brazil. In the German Country Quota Markus Böckermann and mixing Urbatzka Alexander Walkenhorst defeated and Thomas Kaczmarek, then survived the first two qualifying rounds, before they had to retire against the Swedes Gunnarsson and Brink Borg. Jonas Recker man and Julius Brink remained undefeated in their first two games. In the third round, however, the reigning world champions lost to the Chinese Xu and Wu, then they defeated Nummerdor and Schuil and Benjamin and Bruno, before they failed to Emanuel / Alison and occupied the fifth place. The South Americans defeated then Penggen Wu and Xu Linyin, while in the other semifinal Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers penetrated against Ricardo and Márcio Araújo and also won the first final of the season. Behind the silver medalists Emanuel / Alison Wu and Xu secured the bronze medal.
Shanghai Open ( May 2 to 7 )
In the German Country Quota Kaczmarek / Walkenhorst by Stefan Windscheif and Sebastian Dollinger were subdued who were able to qualify for a bye and two further successes for the best 32 teams field. After defeating P. Gao and CH. Chen from the Middle Kingdom and two defeats occupied the Central Europeans to 17th place in the overall standings. The three selected for the main draw German teams competed in front among the top eight. There lost David Klemperer and Eric Koreng against the set at number five Chinese Wu and Xu. Dollinger / Windscheif failed in the second qualifying round of the Americans Patterson / Keenan. The right for the main draw start- authorized Erdmann / Matysik reached the first round of the group stage and were Seventeenth. Klemperer / Koreng defeated their compatriots Erdmann / Matysik, but lost to the Austrians Doppler / Mellitzer and the Swiss Heyer / Chevallier and secreted as a group of Fourth. The Confederates defeated the duo from the other Alpine republic with 2-0 records. Sebastian Dollinger and Stefan Windscheif lost their first game against Ferramenta / Pedro from Brazil, however, the following matches against the Russians Barsuk / Yutvalin and the Italians Ingrosso / Ingrosso were won by P., so that their qualification was secured as runners-up.
Main Round
In the first round all Swiss team suffered the corner. Both Heyer / Chevallier lost to Soderberg / Hoyer of Denmark and Heuscher / Bellaguarda against the Spaniards Herrera / Gavira and Gabathuler / Schnider against Sebastian Dollinger and Stefan Windscheif. The Germans subsequently failed extremely scarce with 21:23 in the third set to the eventual finalists, Marcio Araujo and Ricardo. Also Erdmann / Matysik won their first game in the group stage against the New Zealanders Lochhead - Pitman, but was defeated in the second round with 17:19 in the final set semi-finalists Plavins / Smedins from Latvia. In German Trials Böckermann / Urbatzka won against Windscheif / Dollinger, but failed in the first qualifying round. Erdmann / Matysik as their Second pools won their main round match against the Swiss Heuscher / Bellaguarda, then lost her second round as well as Klemperer / Koreng, who had qualified as group winners directly for this round. The other Swiss teams eliminated early from Heyer / Chevallier were in their first game in the group stage vanquished Laciga M. Weingart won their first major round match, after her second round could not make victorious. Austrian teams were not at the start. Brink / Recker man won after three pool wins the following pairings against Ferramenta / Pedro from Brazil and the Dutch Nummerdor / Schuil. Mazuri Grand Slam in Stare Jabłonki (26th July 31)
For the fourth time in the last five events met Dollinger / Windscheif in German Trials on Böckermann / Urbatzka, after their victory also successfully passed the qualification and, like Klemperer / Koreng and Brink / Recker man first of their pools were. Erdmann / Matysik reached third parties as a group after their subsequent victory over Gabathuler / Schnider also the second major round.
