2001 European Beach Volleyball Championships

The Beach Volleyball European Championship 2001 held from 6 to 9 September in Jesolo ( Italy). The competitions for men and women were held in parallel. It was the eighth official EM women and the ninth men's tournament. The Greeks Vassiliki Karadassiou and Effrosyni Sfyri won the final against the Swiss duo Nicole Schnyder- Benoit and Simone Kuhn. The Germans Andrea Ahmann and Ulrike Schmidt took third place. For men, the Swiss Sascha Heyer and Markus Egger succeeded in the final of last year's edition against their compatriots Martin and Paul Laciga revenge. The Norwegians JORRE André Kjemperud and Vegard Hoidalen finished third again.

Mode

For women and men, respectively 24 teams competed. The tournament was played in double- knock -out procedure. The winners received 31,000 euro and 200 points for the world rankings per couple.
