Stefan Kobel

Stefan Kobel ( born February 13, 1974 in Langenhard, Switzerland ) is a former Swiss beach volleyball player. He played on the position of the defender.

Career

Kobel tried in his youth at FC Kollbrunn - Rikon first as a football goalie. At age 19, his volleyball career began when VC Smash Winterthur. There he met Patrick Heuscher, with whom he formed a beach volleyball duo from 1996. Her greatest success was winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Games 2004. During the same year they won the World Series tournament in Gstaad and were third in the European Championship. The following year she made ​​it to the cup final and were successful at the World Tour in Paris. In 2006 she managed alongside the tournament victory in Roseto degli Abruzzi, a new third place at the European Championship.

In addition, the team Heuscher / Kobel was also a five-time Swiss champion ( 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005). The duo Heuscher / Kobel was honored in 2004 as a Swiss Team of the Year.

The end of 2006 Kobel announced his resignation. His partner Patrick Heuscher found with Sascha Heyer a new partner.
