Sara Goller
Sara Goller (now Sara Low) ( born May 21, 1984 in Starnberg ) is a former German beach volleyball player. With her partner, Laura Ludwig, she was twice European Champion and four times German champion.
Career
Goller began in 1992 with TSV Herrsching with the volleyball in the hall and in 1997 for SV other jurisdictions. In 2001 she went to the German Bundesliga Bayer Leverkusen, with whom she was in all three finals in the season 2004/ 05, together with their subsequent Beach partner Laura Ludwig.
As a beach volleyball player Goller has been active since 1999. First she played with changing partners. With Friederike Romberg she won the 2003 U20 European Championships in Salzburg. In the same year she won with Anja Günther fifth place at the German Championship in Timmendorfer beach. On 15 May 2004 she founded with Laura Ludwig, a new duo that gollerplusludwig marketed under the name and as of November 1, 2005 was one of Hertha BSC. Trained by Olaf Kortmann young ladies celebrated the first joint success with the third place at the U23 European Championship 2004 in Brno. The first participation in the "big" European Timmendorfer beach ended with rank 25 at the next European Junior Championships 2005 in Mysłowice Goller / Ludwig Silver outdated. In the same year the Nationalduo Ascended Lady's third in the German Championship and took were in Berlin for the first time at a World Cup finals ( 17th).
In 2006 she established finally settled in the German elite. They won the U23 European Championships in St. Pölten, took part in the World Tour, where they reached fifth place in Acapulco, and were fourth at the European Championships in The Hague. In the final against Rieke Brink - Abeler and Hella Jurich they won the German championship. The following year they continued their ascent. At the World Championships in Gstaad, there was only enough for 17th place, but at the European Championships in Valencia, they reached the final. They also won at the FIVB World Tour tournaments the silver medal in Espinho and the bronze medal in Klagenfurt, reached the fourth place in Stavanger and fifth place in Marseille and defended their national title in the final against Helke Claasen and Antje Röder. The readers of the journal Volleyball magazine chose Sara Goller for beach volleyball player of the year 2007.
The biggest success of her career until then achieved Goller / Ludwig by winning the 2008 European Championship in Hamburg. Shortly before, they had already secured qualification for the Olympic Games in Beijing. There, they were separated in the second round after a three-set defeat against the Austrians Doris and Stefanie Schwaiger from. Goller defended her title as a beach volleyball player of the year. With Laura Ludwig, she won the national title at the German Championship 2008 for the third consecutive time. The year 2009 was the year of third places for the two Hamburg. Bronze medals at the FIVB tournaments in Brasília, Moscow and Marseille and a third place at the German championships in Ahmann -Hager arena, came to a fourth place in Shanghai and three fifth places at FIVB tournaments. Be Goller and Ludwig were able to secure the silver medal at the European Championships only.
2010
Successfully launched the two athletes from Hertha BSC in the year. In the first Brasilia Open, she defeated Olympic gold medalist Misty May- Treanor with her new partner Nicole Branagh and then the Brazilian duo Larissa / Juliana. In the final, Goller / Ludwig did have to hit the two Brazilians give as already thus shift the tournament in Portugal in 2007 and their first win at the FIVB Tour yet. While the two Germans in Shanghai not only coped and occupied the 25th place, they reached the final in Rome again failed this time, however, the current World Champions April Ross and Jennifer Kessy. Also in the following tournaments in Seoul and Moscow were Sara Goller and Laura Ludwig defeated by the two Americans and occupied the fifth place respectively. In Gstaad, the two Germans reached for the third time this season, the finale for the third time however, there was a defeat, this time as in Brasília against the top-seeded Brazilians Larissa and Juliana. After a fifth place in Marseille Goller / Ludwig arrived in Klagenfurt for the fourth time in 2010 a medal rank. In the match for third place, the ladies of Hertha BSC defeated the Austrians Barbara Hansel and Sara Monday Olli, where they were still failed the semi-finals in the fight for a place in Marseille. According to a ninth place at the FIVB tournament in Poland, the two Germans won their second European Championship. In the final they defeated their compatriots Katrin Holt and Ilka Semmler Wick. In the following FIVB tournament in Sanya Goller and Ludwig reached after victories over world champions Kessy and Ross as well as the double Olympic gold medalist and - time world champion Kerri Walsh and her partner Nicole Branagh also the final, which they lost against the Chinese Xue and Zhang Xi. At the last event of the year in Thailand to Hamburg city occupied the fifth place after three wins and two defeats.
2011
At the Beach Volleyball European Championship 2011 in Kristiansand Goller / Ludwig won the bronze medal. At the German Championships 2011, they have won the national title for the fourth time. Not quite as successful as last year, the two Germans were at the FIVB World Tour. In addition to a silver medal in Stavanger they reached four other finishes in the top eight teams. The Myslowice Open Goller / Ludwig finished fourth, in Brasília and in Moscow they were each Fourth and Seventh in Åland. At the World Championships in Rome, she lost in the second round against May-Treanor/Walsh.
2012
The year of the Olympic Games in London Laura Ludwig and Sara Goller started with the fifth (Brasilia, Beijing) and ninth places (Shanghai, Moscow, Gstaad, Berlin, Klagenfurt) in the FIVB World Tour. In Rome they were stopped only in the finale of Kuhn / Zumkehr (SUI ). At the European Championships in Scheveningen (Netherlands) they finished ninth. Then they won the national tournament of the Smart Beach Tour on Norderney. At the Olympic Games in London, she reached the second place in the group stage and thus qualified for the knockout stages. There they met with Holt Wick / Semmler to the second German duo, who they defeated 2-0. Then they were subjected to the quarter-finals but the Brazilian team Larissa / Juliana with 0:2 and thus occupied the fifth place. At the German Championships they divorced after two defeats from early and finished the tournament in seventh place. In September 2012, Sara Goller announced her departure from the beach volleyball before she returned to the hall in October 2012. When team SnowTrex DSHS Cologne, she played the following season in the second division.
Private
Goller studied in Hamburg Modern German Literature and Media Studies. Following her beach career, she began training as a volunteer at the television station Sky. In the summer of 2013 she married, and has since been known Sara Low.
