Ilka Semmler
Ilka Semmler ( born September 8, 1985 in Aachen ) is a German beach volleyball player. With her partner Katrin Holt Wick in 2007, she took first place in the European rankings and in 2009 and 2012 German Masters.
Career
Ilka Semmler began in 1995 with the Volleyball Hall at TC Kreuzau in North Rhine-Westphalia Kreuzau. In 2000, they played their first beach volleyball tournament. From 2003 to August 2004, she formed a duo with Ruth Flemig with which she was fourth in the first year with the German A Youth Championship. 2004 Flemig / Semmler in Koper U20 European Champion. In September 2004, Semmler played with Sara Goller, finishing in 13th place at the German Championship in Timmendorfer beach and finished fifth at the U21 World Championships in Madeira. From 2006, she played with Katrin Holt Wick as a new partner. Holt Wick / Semmler were in the first year runner-up at the U23 European Championships in St. Pölten. They reached top positions in the smart beach tour with a tournament victory in Leipzig and occupied at the German Championship in fourth place. Thanks to some good rankings on the European tour and the tournament victory in Moscow took the Andreas Künkler, Christoph Dieckmann and Erik Helm ( athletics ) trained duo in 2007 the first place in the European rankings. At the German Championships Semmler had to do without because of an injury to one entry. 2008, the two won on the FIVB World Tour a bronze medal in Klagenfurt and a silver medal in Mysłowice.
In November 2008, Ilka Semmler and their play partner Katrin Holt Wick from the power of the DVV staff were the National team ( A-team ) appointed. In 2009, the duo German masters. The year 2010 was a second place at the European Championships and third place at the German Championship very successful for Holt Wick / Semmler.
At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 they parted with 0-2 against Goller / Ludwig in the second round, and so occupied the ninth place. Then they were again German masters. During the subsequent tournament in the Finnish Åland they achieved the first victory at the FIVB World Tour.
In the first tournament of the year 2013, the duo set to square Holt Wick / Semmler finished the CEV Satellite tournament in Antalya ( Turkey) to fifth place. At the Beach World Cup finals in Brazil, she reached the third place. At the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki Holt Wick / Semmler reached as group winners the main round, where they did against the Netherlands team Keizer / Van Iersel. At the European Championships in Klagenfurt they reached the fourth place. They were then German vice-champion.
Private
Ilka Semmler is the daughter of the chemist Ralph Semmler ( b. 1956 ) and the art teacher Helga Semmler (* 1957). She grew up in Kreuzau. After graduating from high school in 2005 she moved to Berlin and studied rehabilitation education there. Together with her partner Katrin Holt Wick she was photographed naked by Andreas H. Bitesnich. The nude in the magazine Fit for Fun ensured outside the beach volleyball scene for attention and an invitation to TV total.
