Jörg Stohler

Jörg Stohler ( born August 27, 1949 in Pratteln ) is a former Swiss football player. He played more than 300 league matches, was four times Swiss champion, was three times Swiss Cupfinalist (once winner 1975), and once each Ligacupsieger and Alpencupsieger. Ten times he played for the national team.

Club career

Stohler began his football career with the juniors of FC Pratteln. In 1970 he moved to FC Basel. On July 30, 1974, he scored the goal for 1-0 in the interim Alpencupfinal against BSC Young Boys Basel at the end but lost 1-2. On June 11, 1983, he played in Wankdorfstadion in Bern his 300th league match for Basel.

In the 1988/89 season Stohler moved to FC Munich stone in the 3rd League as player-coach. End of the season the team was relegated to the second league.

In his time at FC Basel Stohler also played ten times in the Swiss national team.

Private life

Stohler was trained as a construction mechanic, was chemical workers and early retirement since 2005. He is married and has two adult children.
