Jorge Daponte

Jorge Daponte ( born June 5, 1923 in Buenos Aires, † March 1, 1963 ) was an Argentine racing driver.

Formula 1

Daponte took 1954 as a private driver for Maserati in two runs for the drivers world championship of Formula 1 part. With its inferior Formula 2 Maserati A6GCM he fell at the Grand Prix of Argentina on the Autódromo Oscar Alfredo Gálvez due to a gearbox failure, whereas with ten laps he einkam in eleventh place in the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. In addition Daponte took on some part not for the World Cup scoring formula 1 race.

Champ Cars

Daponte tried unsuccessfully in 1953 to qualify for the 500- mile race from Indianapolis.

In 1953 he took part in the Carrera Panamericana, but failed. He died in 1963 in his hometown of Buenos Aires. Maybe he committed suicide.
