Jórvík

The Kingdom of Jorvik Jorvik with the capital (later York) was a territory of the Norsemen in the North of England. The kings controlled in addition to their actual area (primarily Northumbria ) times the area around Dublin, the Isle of Man and the Five Boroughs of Mercia. Conversely, were the kings of Dublin on the throne, the kings of Wessex annexed the territory in which they downgraded the title to that of the Earl of York.

Under the reign of Halfdan Jorvik was considered a Danish kingdom, in the episode but it was left to the Norwegians, who also had to fight for it. The Danes took over for the Kingdom of East Anglia. The Five Boroughs were a kind of buffer zone between the two kingdoms. North of England remained under Norwegian influence until Harald III. (Norway ) fell in the battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066.
