José Larduet

José Ángel Gómez Larduet (born 23 February 1990 in Guamá, Santiago de Cuba Province) is a Cuban boxer. Larduet was Pan-American champion 2009, bronze medalist of the 2009 world championships and participants in the 2012 Olympics.

Career

In 2007, Larduet at middleweight for the first time at the Cuban championships, but already retired from the first knockout round. The following year, he won the bronze medal of the national championships and was Junior World Champion ( U19) at light heavyweight ( 81kg - ).

At the national championships in 2009 Larduet was first Cuban champion and won with a final victory over Jeison Monroy, Colombia (RSC 3rd), the Pan American Championships. In the same year he celebrated his biggest success at the World Championships. After victories over Robert Brant, USA ( 17:8 ), in the second round on Revaz Karelishvili, Georgia ( 15:5 ), and in the quarterfinals over Carlos Gongora, Ecuador ( 10:6 ), he reached the semifinals, which he compared the later world champion Artur Beterbijew, Russia ( 13:10 ), lost and thus won the bronze medal.

2010 moved into Larduet Heavyweight ( 91kg - ) and had to be in the final of the World Cup Second Cuban Championships 2009 Osmay Acosta beaten significantly (9:1). Nevertheless, he was nominated in 2011 for the World Championships and reached after beating Lubos Velecký, Czech Republic ( RSC 1 ), Kenneth Egan, Ireland ( AB 3 ), and in the second round over Stjepan Vugdelija, Croatia ( RSC 1 ), the quarter-finals, which he compared Teymur Məmmədov, Azerbaijan ( 24:20 ), lost and thus finished 5th.

Both fights were extremely controversial: After examining the video recording of the German referee Frank Scharmach, the Mazaheri had disqualified unfairly, was suspended from boxing AIBA World Association for five days.
