José Maria Marin

Jose Maria Marin ( born May 6, 1932 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian lawyer, former soccer player, sports managers and politicians. He was governor of São Paulo from May 1982 to March 1983, nor during the military dictatorship. He is the current president of the Brazilian Football Confederation ( CBF) and the Organising Committee for the FIFA World Cup 2014 (COL).

Jose Maria Marin was in the course of his career, always in football and politics at home. As a player, he was active from 1950 to 1952 as a right-winger for FC São Paulo, then he went into politics. From 1964 to 1970 he was member of the Council of the city of São Paulo and in 1969 took over the mayor's office.

Later he took a seat in the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo, where he remained until 1979. He then became vice - governor. In May 1982, he assumed the governorship by the outgoing Paulo Maluf and remained until March 1983 at the office.

Marin came back in 1982 in the sports scene, when he took over as president of the Football Association of the State of São Paulo. He remained until 1988, in office. In 1986, he served at the FIFA World Cup as head of the Brazilian delegation. In 2007 he became the Vice President of the Southeast Region elected the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF).
