José María Reina Andrade

José María Reina Andrade (* 1860, † 1947) was from January 2 to February 14, 1931 President of Guatemala.

Life

Reina was a lawyer, notary public and members of parliament.

The Presidency of Manuel María Orellana Contreras was not recognized by the U.S. government under Herbert Hoover. The U.S. ambassador Sheldon Whitehouse threatened, if by the end of 1930 no of constitutional president was appointed, with an invasion by the Marine Corps.

On December 31, 1930, the Parliament adopted the resignation of Baudilio Palma. The resignation was by members of the Partido Liberal Progresista, the party of Jorge Ubico Castañeda signed. Parliament then ordered the first, second and third alternate for Lázaro Chacón González. First Deputy was Reina Andrade. Second Deputy and Minister of War was the notorious Ubico - trailer General José Reyes. Third deputy was the Jefe Politico of Zacapa, General Rodrigo G. Solórzano.

Reina Andrade was sworn in on January 2, 1931 in Parliament. As Ubico puppet as president he exekutierte number of measures by which the choice Ubico were secured to the president. On January 4, 1930, he called for presidential elections.
