José Marques da Silva
José Marques da Silva ( born October 18, 1869 in Porto, Portugal, † June 6, 1947 ) was a Portuguese architect. Marques da Silva designed several buildings formative postage.
First, José Marques da Silva closed, the son of a Marmoristen, his architectural studies at the Academy of Fine Arts from Portuenser. The studies he deepened again 1889-1896 in Paris.
After his return to Portugal, he soon became known for his designs, several at the World Exhibition in Paris ( 1900) and Rio de Janeiro (1908 ) received awards. Especially since 1900, he distinguished himself for many well-known buildings in the northern Portuguese city of Porto responsible, especially known among the São Bento ( 1900-1916 ) railway station and the National Theatre S. João (1909).
In 1907 he habilitated at the Portuenser Academy of Fine Arts, 1913-1939, he headed the university. He received various honorific, including the Lisbon and Portuenser Academy of Fine Arts and member of the Order of Santiago.
