José Sanfilippo

José Francisco " El Nene " Sanfilippo ( born May 4, 1935 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine footballer.

Career

José Sanfilippo began his career at CA San Lorenzo de Almagro in his hometown of Buenos Aires. In service of this team, he scored 200 goals in 260 games. He was in the years 1958, 1959, 1960 and 1961 top scorer of the Primera División Argentina. In 1960, he even scored the most goals in all South American leagues first. After nine years at San Lorenzo it was for him to continue to Boca Juniors, the club from the poor neighborhood of La Boca, who had already produced numerous Argentine stars such as Diego Maradona, among other things later. However, in La Boca thought it Sanfilippo only a year and he went on to Nacional Montevideo Uruguay. He stayed there again only one season before it drove him back home to CA Banfield.

But even in Banfield, he was not happy and went abroad again to Bangu Atlético Clube in Brazil. After he stayed there for a year, he moved within Brazil to EC Bahia, where he remained for at least three years. In Bahia, he was again top scorer in a league when he scored in the season of 1969 in the Torneio Roberto Gomes Pedrosa, the predecessor of today's Brazilian championship competition, 46 hits. Then he went back for a year back to his hometown club San Lorenzo de Almagro and ended his career in 1972 at age 35. Previously, he had won with San Lorenzo the title. In 1978, he persuaded, at the age of 43 years to enter again into professional football and even played one season at Club Atlético San Miguel before he ended his career for good.

In the National Team of Argentina José Sanfilippo played 1957-1962 a total of 29 times. In these 29 international matches he scored 21 goals. His first major tournament was the World Cup in Sweden in 1958., Where, however, he did not play and Argentina failed in the preliminary round. Four years later in Chile for Argentina and José Sanfilippo again already in the preliminary round. Sanfilippo was time for the starting eleven and came in the first two group games used, with him at 1:3 against England scored a hit. After the World Cup in Chile, the national career of José Sanfilippo ended after 29 missions in the jersey of the gauchos.
