José Vicente Cuadra

José Vicente Cuadra Lugo ( born July 25, 1812 in Granada, Nicaragua, † December 10, 1894 in Granada, Nicaragua ) was a Nicaraguan politician of the Partido de Nicaragua Conservador and 1871-1875 President of the country.

His government took on the displaced from other Central American countries Jesuits and founded new schools in León and Granada. He further instructed the geographers Pablo Levy to compose his Notas y Geográficas Económicas de Nicaragua. In foreign policy, he entered into negotiations with the aim to incorporate the Mosquitia back into the country.
