Josef Schicklgruber

Josef " Pepi " Schicklgruber ( born July 21, 1967 in Vienna) is an Austrian football goalkeeper. Since the summer of 2009, he plays for FC Traun.

Career

His first contract as a professional signed Josef Schicklgruber 1990 at Linzer ASK. In 1994, the then 27 -year-old LASK - keeper did 1241 minutes ( 13 games) without conceding a goal and was therefore one of the main responsible for the rise of Linz club in the Bundesliga. After nine years at LASK and a relegation to the second division Schicklgruber changed during the winter break 1998/99, free transfer to SK Sturm Graz.

Schicklgruber came originally as a substitute goalkeeper to Graz. After the Grazer number 1 Kazimierz Sidorczuk drew upon a lengthy injury, Schicklgruber but could develop such a strong position by good performances that he and Sidorczuk after his return to the team coach Ivica viewed Osim as two equivalent " number 1" and goalies were usually placed alternately. By Sturm Graz Schicklgruber was once Austrian champion (1998 /99) and twice runner-up ( in the two subsequent Seasons ). Schicklgruber and Sidorczuk were doorkeepers for the Grazer, as this in the UEFA Champions League a number of excellent games were delivering and rose up in the 2000 /01 season as group winners in the second round.

Due to an incident in the third round of the UEFA Cup 1999/2000 Schicklgruber was the longtime nickname " Breakdown Pepi ": In the second leg against AC Parma Sturm Graz resulted in the extension of 3-1 and was close to the last sixteen. With the end of season 2007/ 08 Schicklgruber ended his career for the time being. Most recently, he was at SK Sturm due to an injury of the root goalkeeper Gratzei yet to four inserts. After the injury of goalkeeper Christian Gratzei and Martin cobras early June 2008 it was announced that Schicklgruber was reactivated for the fall season 2008/ 09. On January 15, 2009, the Bundesliga club Altach announced the commitment of 41 -year-old, who was thus the oldest player in the Austrian Bundesliga. 31 May 2009 Schicklgruber ended his career at the professional level in the final round of the 2008/09 season when he won the champions Red Bull Salzburg beat with the Altachern away 4-1. In the 88th minute he was replaced by the Altacher goalkeeper Andreas Michl and received unanimously by the Salzburg as Altacher audience standing ovation.
