Josef Staudigl

Josef Staudigl ( born April 14, 1807 in Wollersdorf, Lower Austria, † March 28 1861 in Vienna ) was an Austrian singer ( bass).

Life

Staudigl was the son of forest officials. He attended high school in Wiener Neustadt, where he worked repeatedly with the school choir. Effective November 7, 1816, he was picked up by the rain Chori in the choir of the church. Over the years he got there on up to the soloists. In 1823 he came there to finish his schooling and to prepare for its entry into the monastery to monastery Zwettl ( Cistercian ).

On November 1, 1825 Staudigl occurred in Benedictine Abbey of Melk on his novitiate. In parallel, he studied music and performed at this time regularly at church celebrations as a singer. With time, however, his doubts about his destiny as a monk were getting bigger and with effect from September 13, 1827 he was given dispensation to withdraw from his order again.

In the same year Staudigl went to Vienna to study surgery; inter alia, at the Josephinum in Johann Nepomuk Isfordink. Due to his destitution, he startet to sing, because he had noticed with a beautiful voice since childhood. His livelihood because he could not deny these appearances, he applied for the choir of the Court Opera and was also engaged at September 1, 1828.
