Joseph Chennoth

Joseph Chennoth ( born October 13, 1943 in Kockamangalam ) is a diplomat of the Holy See.

Life

The Bishop of Tainan, Paul Shih Ch'eng -kuang, ordained him a priest on May 4, 1969.

John Paul II appointed him on 24 August 1999 Titular per hac vice of Milevum and Apostolic Nuncio to Chad and the Central African Republic. He received his episcopal consecration of the Cardinal Secretary of State, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, on 30 October of the same year; Varkey Vithayathil, C.Ss.R. were co-consecrators, Apostolic Administrator of Ernakulam- Angamaly, and Jean -Louis Pierre Tauran, Secretary of the Section for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 15 June 2005 Apostolic Nuncio to Tanzania. On 15 August 2011, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Japan.
